The Dorothy H O’Connor Pet Adoption Center provides homeless animals a caring environment with the purpose of the adoption of dogs and cats into their own homes. Our new pet adoption facility in Victoria, Texas was established in October 2007 and with the help of our knowledgeable staff, we continue to provide quality service to ensure that your pet leaves healthy and happy.Dr. Mark Besancon and the team at Crossroads Veterinary Clinic provide low cost routine and emergency care for each and every pet that is adopted through the facility.  A courtesy monthly inspection of the facility is another service provided by Dr. Mark to ensure the health of all the animals.

“Because they all deserve a second chance!!” Crossroads Veterinary Clinic is actively involved with several pet adoption agencies to help them accomplish their missions of saving lives and educating the public about spaying and neutering. Services offered include Veterinary consultation, low cost spays and neuters, vaccinations, medical and surgical treatments. We have teamed up with several adoption groups including: DOCPAC, Adopt-a-Pet, City of Victoria Animal Control, Scurvy Dog Rescue, PAWS, Goliad Pet Adoption, etc. Join us to help educate the public and save lives!!

Dogs and cats get lost more frequently than most realize. If you experience this, please visit Victoria County Animal Control website. They pick up lost and stray pets. All the pets currently residing at the shelter will have their picture posted to help you reunite with your lost love one or maybe even adopt a new member of the family.

Mid-Coast Family Services is a non-profit organization that resulted from a 1999 merger of the Women’s Crisis Center and Mid-Coast Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Today, with a budget of over $2.6 million and numerous community partners, Mid-Coast Family Services is actively working to eliminate family violence, homelessness, and substance abuse.

Our Mission Statement is:  “To help individuals and families by eliminating family violence, homelessness, and substance abuse.”

Many individuals that are helped by Mid-Coast Family Services have pets that are in need of care as well. Dr. Mark Besancon with Crossroads Veterinary Clinic has teamed up to provide care for these animals in need. Mid-Coast Family Services has facilities equipped to handle dogs, cats and other species so individuals can take them with them. These facilities are inspected and available for use by Dr. Mark to provide low cost care to these animals.

The Victoria County Sheriff’s Office is a full-service law enforcement agency and detention facility. Since 1836, we have been dedicated to the service and protection of the citizens of Victoria County.  Crossroads Veterinary Clinic has teamed up with the Sheriff’s K-9 unit to provide veterinary care for our canine partners. These dogs provide an invaluable service to the department and their health is very important to keep them active and working. We are honored at Crossroads Veterinary Clinic to be able to offer that care for our 4-legged officers!!

KAVU-TV, known locally as ABC 25, is a full-service television station in Victoria, Texas. Serving the entire Victoria metropolitan area as an ABC network affiliate, this station is owned and operated by Saga Broadcasting, as part of a group of six television stations serving the Victoria market. Dr. Mark Besancon appears on the Morning Sunrise Show once a month the Friday the week the 15th falls on. He gives pet tips and information about how to keep your pets healthy. Tune in for some great information!

Crossroads Veterinary Clinic adopted the 2 mile section of Hwy. 77 north of Victoria going towards Hallettsville. The CVC team (along with family, friends, and community volunteers) gathers 2-4 times a year to pick up trash on the highway. We are doing our part to keep Texas beautiful!!

The Homes for Heroes foundation is a public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Its mission is to provide or coordinate financial assistance and housing resources to our Nation’s Heroes such as Military personnel, Police/Peace Officers, Firefighter and First Responders who demonstrate neediness. Crossroads Veterinary Clinic participates in this program helping our Nation’s Heroes.

The mission of the Victoria Livestock Show is to provide an opportunity for the youth of Victoria County to exhibit their 4-H and FFA projects, developing agricultural knowledge and leadership skills. The team at Crossroads Veterinary Clinic helps participants with their animal projects and volunteers at the show with animal inspections. We offer discounts for Veterinary care of Livestock Animals that are participating in the local shows.

Educational Speeches – The Veterinarians at Crossroads Veterinary Clinic speak to several groups, clubs, organizations, etc. about Veterinary Medicine. A few include DOCPAC’s Fur Ball and Annual Summer Camps, Children’s Discovery Museum Events, AgriLife Extension Service Pet Safety Programs, Feed Store Nutrition Programs, Local 4-H Club Meetings, Career Days at local schools, etc. These speeches occur throughout the year and are a great way to educate the public about what we do as Veterinarians.

Shadow Students/Veterinary Externs – Crossroads Veterinary Clinic’s priority is “Education”. We educate clients on a daily basis about their pets, and we also are very open to shadow students following the Veterinarians and staff to learn about Veterinary Medicine. We have individual students shadow as well as group of student come through the clinic. We support students from the High School’s Career and Technical Education Program, Girls Scouts, 4-H Groups, etc. We are also active in future Veterinarians by supporting and teaching Veterinary Student Externs.

Community Vaccination Drives – Crossroads Veterinary Clinic has partnered with several local feed stores to provide annual rabies drives. A few participating stores include Victoria Farm and Ranch, Northside Ranch Pet and Garden Center, The Other Feed Store, and Tractor Supply Company. The community drives offer low cost vaccinations and a few drives also include Heartworm testing, Microchipping, and Equine Coggins testing.

Community Activities – The Crossroads Veterinary Clinic team is involved in several community activities. The community is wonderful in supporting us, and we want to give back to the community as appreciation for their support. A few activities we have been involved in include: Sweat Equity Challenge, Alz Care’s Rope to Remember, DOCPAC’s K9-5K, Children’s Discovery Museum’s Fall Festival, Family Outdoor Expo, Texas Zoo’s Wild About Wine, Christmas Parade, Victoria Farm and Ranch Show, etc.
